PT NTB Increases The Sentence Of The Former Kadishub Dompu Corruption Case To 8 Years In Prison
JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has changed the sentence of former Head of the Transportation Service (Kadishub) Dompu Syarifuddin in a corruption case in the budget for goods and services from 5 years to 8 years in prison.
The panel of judges canceled the decision of the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court (PN) which sentenced Syarifuddin to 5 years in prison.
"To cancel the decision of the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court Number: 18/Pid.Sus-TPK/2024/PN Mtr, dated October 30, 2024, which was requested for the appeal," said Chairman of the panel of judges Sutio Jumagi Akhirno reading the verdict at the appeal decision hearing at PT NTB, Thursday, December 19, which was broadcast on the YouTube channel PT NTB,
By overturning the court's first-degree decision, the high court judge tried the case himself by imposing a sentence on Syarifuddin for 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary to 3 months.
The judge also charged the defendant to pay compensation for state financial losses of Rp578 million out of a total of Rp778 million by asking for Rp200 million, which the defendant had previously deposited in the investigation stage for the prosecutor to be confiscated by the state with a subsidiary imprisonment of 1 year.
The high court judge handed down the verdict by stating that the defendant's actions had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together as in the first primary alternative indictment.
The indictment relates to Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

The defendant's actions were proven to have violated the first primary alternative indictment in accordance with the first instance court decision. Differences can only be seen from the main sentence stipulated.
In the first instance court, the defendant Syarifuddin was sentenced to 5 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 350 million, a subsidiary of 3 months.
The first-degree court judge also charged the defendant with paying all the money to compensate for state financial losses worth Rp. 778 million, a subsidiary of 2 years in prison.
The case that ensnared the former Kadishub Dompu is related to the corruption of the budget for goods and services at the Dompu Transportation Agency from 2017 to 2020.
Syarifuddin committed an evil consensus by signing an accountability document for the expenditure of goods and services made fictitious by two other defendants who acted as treasurers of expenditure at the Dompu Transportation Agency.
