Prabowo sends high-level delegation to strengthen economic cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto sent a high-level delegation to Egypt to discuss increasing cooperation in the industrial sector with business people in the country.
This was conveyed by President Prabowo in a bilateral meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Al Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, Cairo, Egypt, which highlighted various strategic fields such as trade, industry, technology, education, tourism, and defense.
"We already have a Joint Trade Committee Council, but we want to improve again and we from Indonesia will immediately send high-level delegates who will be in contact with our counterparts in the Egyptian government," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 18.
The Joint Trade Committee is a bilateral forum between Indonesia and Egypt, aiming to promote and enhance trade cooperation between the two countries.
The high-level delegation sent by President Prabowo was assigned to establish direct communication with the Egyptian government and business and industry players in the country.
This delegation will focus on opportunities for cooperation in a number of strategic fields, including the possibility of Indonesia's involvement in the Special Economic Zone in Egypt, namely the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
In addition, the delegation will also explore the development of the oil palm processing industry and the construction of a logistics center to strengthen trade connectivity between the two countries.

President Prabowo also revealed the importance of accelerating the discussion of the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) or the Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries which aims to reduce certain product rates.
"We also want later to have a preferential Trade Agreement between Egypt and Indonesia, so that our cooperation can be further improved," he said.
The Head of State said that the envoy was a follow-up to the commitment of the Indonesian government to improve bilateral relations with Egypt, especially in the economic sector.
"We have good relations, but we want to improve this relationship, especially in the economic field," said President Prabowo.
