Pertamina Predicts Fuel Needs In West Sumatra To Increase 9.4 Percent During The Nataru Period

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional North Sumatra (Sumbagut) estimates that the need for fuel oil (BBM) in West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra) will increase by 9.4 percent during the year-end holidays, namely the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year periods.

"We predict an increase in fuel consumption during the Christmas and New Year holidays by around 2,139 kiloliters to 2,340 kiloliters per day," said Sales Area Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga, West Sumatra, Naratama Aulia Fajri, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 18.

The increase in fuel demand is expected to occur in the type of gasoline which includes Pertalite, Pertamax and Pertamax Turbo, along with increasing community mobility during the year-end holidays.

In addition to Pertamina's gasoline products, it estimates that the need for LPG for household consumption will also increase by 5.5 percent compared to the average normal demand, or from 474 metric tons to 500 metric tons per day.

Unlike gasoline and LPG, Pertamina estimates that gasoil consumption consisting of Solar, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex actually decreased by about five percent or 1,447 kiloliters to 1,375 kiloliters per day.

This is due to restrictions on the operation of goods or trucks transportation vehicles during the holiday period.

"Despite the increase in fuel and LPG needs, Pertamina ensures that during holidays, supplies are sufficient and safe," he said.

Aviation Fuel Terminal Manager Minangkabau Budi Nugroho also predicts that Avtur's needs will increase by around 8.4 percent.

In addition to the holiday factor, the increase in Avtur consumption is also in line with the policy of decreasing airplane tickets which has an impact on increasing flight intensity.

"The resilience of Avtur's stock continues to be maintained to anticipate an increase in demand during holidays," he said.
