PNBP Fisheries And Marine Sector Reaches IDR 1.97 Trillion Until The Third Quarter Of 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) reported that non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the marine and fisheries sector until the third quarter of 2024 reached Rp1.97 trillion. This figure is the highest in the history of the KKP.

Expert Staff for Ecology and Marine Resources of the KKP Hendra Yusran Siry said that this achievement could not be separated from the various sectors in marine and fisheries that contributed. He said, the biggest contribution came from marine and fisheries natural resources (SDA) and sanctions from illegal activities.

“Yes, PNBP comes from natural resources and from activities for which we issue permits,” Hendra said at the KKP Year-End Achievements 2024 Edition II press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 17.

He added that national fisheries production until the third quarter of 2024 had reached 18.26 million tons. According to Hendra, the stability of fisheries production was maintained even though the fisheries sector faced various global challenges.

In terms of fishermen's welfare, the fishermen's exchange rate index was recorded at 101.71. Meanwhile, the exchange rate for fish farmers reached 101.96. This figure shows that the purchasing power of marine and fisheries sector players is maintained above the 100 index.

“We certainly continue to want to increase this index, and also if it can be like the exchange index value in several other sectors in the Ministry of Agriculture and in the plantation sector,” he said.

Meanwhile, economic growth in the fisheries sector also showed a significant recovery. In the third quarter of 2024, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the fisheries sector grew by 2.25 percent. This figure is much better than in the same period last year, which experienced a minus 2.68 percent.

Hendra explained that the national fisheries sector continues to record stable growth with an average production of between 20-25 million tons per year. This growth is supported by capture fisheries up 3.93 percent, aquaculture 2.41 percent and seaweed 0.57 percent per year.

The contribution of the fisheries subsector to national GDP reached 2.54 percent with a GDP value at current prices (ADHB) of IDR 407 trillion until the third quarter of 2024.

In addition, the export performance of marine and fishery products until the end of the third quarter of 2024 reached 4.81 billion US dollars with an export revenue ratio of 99.99 percent.

According to Hendra, this high ratio illustrates international confidence in the quality of RI's fishery products and strengthens Indonesia's position as a major contributor in the global market.

“On the conservation side, KKP managed to manage 29.87 million hectares of conservation areas. This effort is in line with the blue economy policy to maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem,” he said.
