Regarding The Moratorium On The Expansion Of New Regions, The Ministry Of Home Affairs Will Discuss Its Continuation

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) will discuss the continuation of the moratorium on the formation of a new autonomous region (DOB) or a regional expansion moratorium.

"This is because many have urged it," said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto after visiting SMAN 34 Jakarta, Tuesday, December 17, during a visit to SMAN 34, by Antara.

The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs said that the revocation of the moratorium on the formation of the DOB must be serious, including ensuring that the available budget is sufficient and determining the area that is a priority for expansion.

The discussion, he said, was one of the homeworks of the Ministry of Home Affairs which is currently also studying the general election system (elections).

Based on data from the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Working Meeting of Committee I DPD RI at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 10, there were 337 proposals for the formation of a DOB.

This number includes 42 provincial expansion proposals, 248 district expansions, 36 city expansions, six special regional expansions, and five special autonomy expansions.

On a different occasion, Commission II of the DPR RI is waiting for the political will or political will of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto regarding the revocation of the moratorium on the formation of a DOB.

"This moratorium is at the level of the President's policy so that the DPR and ministries/agencies are waiting for political will from the President," said Chairman of Commission II of the DPR RI Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda in the Tebet area, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 11.
