Komdigi Creates Study On The Law On Limiting The Age Of Playing Social Media For Children With KPAI

JAKARTA - Plt. Director General of Public Communication and Media of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Molly PrabaWAti admitted that Komdigi is currently reviewing regulations related to age restrictions in playing social media.

Molly said this study was carried out as an effort by the government to create a safe digital space for children, considering that Australia had already drafted the ban on the use of social media for children under 16 years of age.

"We are still making a study, related to if Australia has given restrictions (the age of playing social media) to children under 16 years old. Now we are thinking about what kind of Indonesia fits," Molly told the media on Monday, December 16 at the Komdigi office, Jakarta.

He also said that the government needs to think about what kind of rules are suitable for the Indonesian people, because according to him, Indonesian culture and Australia are different. So, you can't apply the same rules.

"Because Indonesian culture with Australia is certainly different. So just be patient, just wait for the game date," he said further.

In the event of this study, the Ministry of Komdigi collaborated with other Ministries/Institutions, including the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA).

"Of course the government is very concerned about this. We will certainly protect our children from being negative on social media and the internet. There is one MOU that we work on, of course, in terms of child protection," said Molly.
