Instagram Official Admits The Platform Is Still Passing The Provision Of AI Labels
JAKARTA - Instagram Head Adam Mosseri created a series of posts discussing labels and contexts of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based content. This post was uploaded to his Threads account.
Mosseri reminded its users not to easily believe AI content on various social media, including Threads and Instagram. According to him, Threads users should consider the source so that AI content is not misinterpreted.
In addition, social media also plays an important role in labeling AI-generated content. Unfortunately, the system on social media still often makes mistakes by not labeling it. This seems to also happen on Threads and Instagram.
"Our role as an internet platform is to label the generated content as the best possible," Mosseri said. "However, some content will surely go unnoticed, and not all misrepresentations will be generated with AI."

Mosseri admits that they are trying to solve this problem. To prevent the dissemination of AI-resulted content without labels, Instagram and Threads need to provide context about who shared the content.
"So we also have to give a context about who shares so you can judge for yourself how much you want to trust their content," Mosseri said.
In line with the delivery of the sender context, Mosseri reminds users of its social media platform to use 'observable thoughts' during consumption of content on social media, especially on content claimed based on recording or real images.
