President Alludes To Expensive Political System
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto alluded to the political system in Indonesia, which he said was expensive and inefficient when compared to neighboring countries.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in his remarks at the 60th Anniversary of the Golkar Party at Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java, Thursday, December 12.
"I think today is the most important thing that was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party earlier. That we all feel our democracy that we are running, there is something, or there are several things that we have to fix together. I think we have to improve our system," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA.
Prabowo said Indonesia should not be ashamed to admit that the possibility of a political system in the country is too expensive. According to him, the faces of the winning regional head candidates also seem sluggish because of the high cost of politics.
"The winner is sluggish, especially the one who loses. We have to dare to correct ourselves, therefore I appreciate that the general chairman of the brother is observant, I say he is intelligent. That's why Indonesian children have to eat a lot of fish," Prabowo said referring to the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia who comes from Fak-Fak, Papua, and is believed to be smart because his area often consumes fish.
Prabowo invited all general chairmen and leaders of political parties present to improve the political system that consumes tens of trillions in one or two days of each election.
"I see that our neighboring countries are efficient. Malaysia, Singapore, India, once they choose DPRD members, once they choose, they have chosen governors, vote for regents. Efficients, no money comes out, money comes out, money comes out, like we are rich," he joked.

He said the money spent on election costs could be used to provide children to eat, repair schools, and repair irrigation.
"Actually, there are so many general chairmen here, actually we can decide tonight, how about it?" Prabowo asked.
He asked politicians not to listen too much to foreign consultant suggestions, one of which is usually suggesting that local elections be held for months.
"Aren't the general chairmen of the party? You're back from the kapoknggak regional election? Really right? The one who won, the one who lost like this (persu) all," he explained.
Prabowo also said that as the leader of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, he freed all parties to nominate candidates for their respective regional heads. Even though there are wins and defeats, it is not a problem.
Most importantly, said Prabowo, all leaders can give the best for their people.
