The Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs Calls 28 Officers Of The 2024 Election Died Of Fatigue And Heart Attack

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri), Bima Arya said that at least 28 Ad Hoc officers of election organizers died during the 2024 Pilkada. According to him, this figure is much lower than in the 2019 election.

"There are several notes from us regarding the election organizers who died. We see that 28 people died in 2024 as of December 8," Bima Arya said in a meeting with Committee I DPD RI, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 10.

"The data that we appeal is that the number is not as many as the 2019 election, or the last presidential and legislative elections," he continued.

Bima Arya said the cause of the officers' death was due to fatigue and heart attacks.

"This is mostly based on our records, yes, due to fatigue, heart attacks. We are comparing this to the previous period, of course, the figure is far from this," he said.

Even lower, Bima said, this note would be an evaluation material so that the next election would not be carried out by any officers who died due to fatigue.

"But this is still a record for all of us, how to eliminate or reduce the organizers who died due to fatigue. This is our record in the future to improve the system together both technically and administratively," he said.

As is known, the General Elections Commission (KPU) revealed that the number of election organizers who died in the 2019 General Election amounted to 894 officers. Meanwhile, 5,175 officers were sick.
