Gene Simmons' Explanation Regarding 'Music Rock' Statement Is Dead'

Kiss bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons has again expressed his belief that rock music is dead, and he feels many people don't understand his statement.

In the recent program The Zak Kuhn Show, Simmons tried to explain his statement through a game. He mentioned the big names he had in the music industry.

"Okay, let's play, and I've done this before. From 1958 to 1988, that's 30 years. So, what happened during that period? Yes, we have Elvis, we have Beatles, (Rolling) Stones, Jimi Hendrix, everyone, Pink Floyd, solo artist, David Bowie," Simmons said.

In the world of disco, you have Madonna, more guitar games are strong, you have AC/DC, Aerosmith, and so on. And you have Motown at the same time. You have Prince. It's a very rich music menu. You have a progressive band, you have Yes, Genesis, Gentleman Giant, and you have heavy metal bands, Led Zeppelin and so on," continued the 75-year-old musician.

Simmons said the same thing didn't happen after 1988 until now. He doesn't see anything to be juxtaposed with a band like The Beatles.

"And from 1988 to now who are the new Beatles?" he said.

When asked what he thought about Nirvana, which was active from 1989 to 1994, Simmons said Kurt Cobain cs could not be compared to the names mentioned above.

If you walk on the street and ask someone 20 years old, 'Who is the bass player at Nirvana?' they won't know what you're talking about. Or, 'Can you sing Nirvana?' No, no. The Beatles, and at a slightly lower level, Stones and Elvis, everyone knows The Beatles. If you hate rock music, you definitely know about them, "he concluded.
