Mutual Suspicious Of Stolen Sound Triggers Arrows, Bows And Spears 'gliding' Between Candidates For Regent Intan Jaya
PAPUA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that the dispute between potential regents in Intan Jaya, Central Papua was caused by suspicions that the votes of the candidates were missing and other candidates were taken.
From the report received on Saturday, the masses of potential regent number 3 attacked the mass of supporters of candidate number 1 because they suspected that their voices were stolen using traditional war equipment such as arrows and bows and spears.
"The dispute between the masses of supporters of candidate pairs number 1 and 3 caused a number of honai or typical houses in the mountains of Papua to be burned and injured," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, to ANTARA, Sunday, December 8 evening.
The regional elections in Intan Jaya Regency were attended by five pairs of candidates, namely the number 1 candidate pair Aner Maisini-Elias Igapa, serial number 2 candidate pair Marten Tipagau-Melianus Belau, serial number 3 candidate pair sebesar Bagau-Tetairus Widigipa, serial number 4 candidate pair Oni Dendegau-Aguni Tapani and candidate number 5 candidate pair Bernadus Kobogau- Melianus Agimbau.
When asked if there were any casualties, he said that from the reports received, some were injured but how many could not be ascertained.
Intan Jaya Police are still recording the number of victims because according to the tradition the victims will be immediately brought by their colleagues to be treated.
To avoid the spread of the dispute, his party took an approach to the two mass groups and finally agreed to make peace.
