Ruben Amorim Forced To Manage Expectations At Manchester United
Ruben Amorim said that he must manage expectations after suffering his first defeat as head coach of Manchester United.
The Portuguese manager needs to do this considering the emergence of expectations regarding the last four of the Premier League when he brings the team unbeaten (two wins and one draw) in all three matches before Arsenal's meeting.
However, the Red Devils lost 0-2 to Arsenal on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in the early hours of Indonesian Western Time (WIB), in his fourth game since he took over the team from Erik ten Hag.
He admitted that it was a bad result, but stated that it was not a big surprise against Arsenal's side who have challenged the Premier League title in the last two seasons.
"We have to manage expectations. That's a bad result. Stay calm and keep doing the work we're doing."
"It's hard because it's a very competitive league and has always changed with just one result."

"We have to go through this phase because before this Arsenal game, you ask about the top four," Amorim told a news conference on Friday, December 6, 2024, local time.
Amoritam ingin menekankan lagi soal ekspektasi lantaran klub-klub Inggris terkenal sibuk setiap Desember.
Manchester United alone has seven games left this month with an average rest distance of only three days.
You see, the Premier League does not recognize the festive season (Christmas and New Year) holidays like most European leagues.
Nearby, the Red Devils will host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Sunday, December 8, 2024, before traveling the Europa League to Viktoria Plzen on December 13, 2024.
"One week can change a lot of things. We need to have consistency in the work. The results you can't control, but you need to win three games to widen the gap in the standings," Amorim said.
Ruben Amorim was indeed constrained by player fitness at his early term at Manchester United.
Therefore, he often changes the composition of players in each match. In defeat against Arsenal alone, Amorim backed up Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo.
In fact, both of them had impressive performances in a 4-0 win over Everton three days earlier.
However, Amorim said that he was getting closer to knowing the composition of his best team ahead of a visit to Nottingham Forest.
"You have an idea, but we have a problem that players come back without training and you have to set a load."
"We always have the same problem and with Bruno Fernandes. You feel that against Arsenal he is a little tired, but you know he will recover very well. Manu (Manuel Ugarte) sometimes takes a little more time."
"We are in the process, but we are getting closer to the idea (of the best team), yes," said Amorim.
