Komdigi Says Digital Platform Will Help Government Fight Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Plt. Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi), Alexander Sabar, said that digital platforms are committed to supporting the government's efforts to eradicate online gambling.

Although he has only served for about a week, Alex admits that he has met several representatives of digital platforms, and invited them to meet.

For meetings with several platforms, with Google it has been implemented. We have also invited Meta. Yesterday Microsoft has also arrived. We have invited several platforms to come, TikTok as well," Alex told the media at the Komdigi Ministry office on Tuesday, December 3.

According to Alex, when they meet with the digital platform, they are willing to help the government, especially the Ministry of Communication and Industry, to fight online gambling in the digital space.

"They will help. Of course based on the existing regulations in us and of course also with their own company," he continued.

Meanwhile, as the Acting Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the new Ministry of Communication and Industry, Alex said that his job is to create a safe digital space for all Indonesian people.

However, Alex emphasized that currently he will focus internally on the Ministry first, considering that this Directorate is a newly formed Directorate under the leadership of the Minister of Trade, Meutya Hafid.

For now, I am new and coincidentally this is the new Directorate General's position too. So I will certainly focus on internal first. Not only inside, but outside. The supervisory function given by the state to Komdigi is to create a healthy digital space," Alex said.
