Documentary Petrus Reveals Preman Shooting Tragedy
JAKARTA - The documentary Petrus can be watched officially at KlikFilm starting December 8, 2024. KlikFilm Production's work captures a controversial and emotional story about a series of shootings against thugs carried out by the government in the 1980s.
By exploring the dark side of this history, Petrus aims to open wide discussions about the policies that have been implemented and their impact on society.
Edy Prass, as the producer, admitted that he did not initially want to appoint this Petrus documentary.
"Initially I wanted to raise a film with the theme of violence, such as about thugs or gangsters. Then I thought why not make a film sourced from a big incident. Finally, it was decided to make this Petrus film," he said in the Duren Tiga area, South Jakarta, Monday, December 2.
Meanwhile, Tri Sasongko Hutomo as the director revealed that this film was based on the direct testimony of the people who directly experienced the incident.
"This documentary is based on the testimony of figures who experienced direct launch of the OPK (Operation for the Eradication of the Army), the first time it spread in Yogyakarta and then the city of Indonesia from 1981 to 1983," he explained.
"Because this is in the form of an acknowledgment, the shape of this film is the narrative of Pak Yudho's testimony which tells about the step by step where, the beginning of the incident then the explosion of Petrus and the point of tragedy. Complete with the statements of the figures who experienced it, or the community," he explained.
