Oxford United Releases Marselino Ferdinand For The 2024 AFF Cup
JAKARTA Marselino Ferdinand was officially released by his club Oxford United to strengthen the Indonesian national team in the 2024 AFF Cup.
The English club made an announcement regarding the release of the midfielder via Instagram social media on Sunday, December 1, 2024 evening WIB.
"Good luck, Lino. Lino was again summoned to represent Indonesia at the ASEAN Championship and today departs to join the squad," reads the club's upload.
Marselino is one of 33 names called up by tactician Shin Tae Yong to face this event. Some of the names on the list are currently undergoing training camps in Bali.
The call was mostly filled by U-22 players. They were accompanied by several senior names such as Asnawi Mangkualam and Pratama Arhan.
The AFF Cup will be held from 8 December 2024 to 5 January 2025 in ten host cities spread across nine countries, including Manahan Stadium in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia.

Apart from Indonesia, this event will also take place at the Bukit Jalil Stadium (Malaysia), National Stadium (Singapore), Rajamangala Stadium (Thailand), Thuwunna Stadium (Myanmar), Olympic Stadium (Kamboja), New Laos National Stadium (Laos), Hang Day Stadium and Viet Tri Stadium (Vietnam), and Rizal Memorial (Philippines).
Indonesia is included in Group B with Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. Garuda troops will play two matches in Manahan and two others away.
Indonesia's journey will begin with a trip to Myanmar. Following that, the home against Laos, away to Vietnam, and the group's final match at home against the Philippines.
The two best teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals and finals. The final match will take place in two legs.
