JAKARTA - The national airline PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) will lower the ticket price for special domestic routes from 19 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Military Commander Tsani Panjaitan, said that the implementation of the policy of reducing flight ticket prices for the Christmas and New Year periods was a follow-up to the direction of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

"We understand the public's need for air transportation services at affordable prices, especially in the midst of preparations ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays. Therefore, until now intensive coordination efforts continue to be strengthened with all stakeholders to discuss further instructions for implementing the policy to ensure the smooth implementation technically in the field," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 29.

He said the effort to according to ticket prices was to help the community in order to reduce the burden of travel ahead of the year-end long holiday period.

This also at the same time supports the recovery of the economic sector, especially tourism and the creative economy.

"The decrease in ticket prices has also taken into account carefully by paying attention to the projected growth of passengers on the year-end holidays. Thus, the implementation of this decrease in ticket prices, we are optimistic that the volume of passengers will grow positively, which of course will have a direct impact on the performance of Garuda Indonesia's revenue," he said.

The decrease in ticket prices is projected to reach 10 percent, some of which come from supporting components for ticket prices.

These components include fuel surcharge, PJP2U and PJP4U, as well as adjustment of avtur at a number of airports.

"The implementation plan for implementing the policy of reducing aircraft ticket prices which has previously been thoroughly studied by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, in this case, the Task Force (Satgas) for the Reduction of Airline Ticket Prices is expected to be a concrete step that has a positive impact on steps to increase community mobility, especially at the peak season. the end of the year," he said.

In this case, Garuda Indonesia welcomes the solidity established between all stakeholders to lower the ticket price for aircraft during the year-end holiday period.
