Minister Of Manpower Targets Determination Of UMP/UMK 2025 Completed Before December 25
JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli stated that the determination of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) and Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK), including the Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSK), is targeted to be completed before December 25, 2024.
"We are working on a timeline. We are actually pursuing it after this, the Governor sets the UMP, then the UMK and including the Sectoral Minimum Wage. That's our target for the timeline yesterday internally, before December 25," Yassierli said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta. reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 29.
The Minister of Manpower hopes for good cooperation between the central and regional governments, including provinces, cities, and districts to support this policy.
His party will hold a socialization to ensure that all parties understand the policies that are being implemented, considering that this year's conditions are different from those of previous years.
Regarding the approval of a 6.5 percent wage increase that has been decided by the President, the Minister of Manpower emphasized that the government hopes that all parties, including workers and entrepreneurs, can understand this decision as the best step for the nation.
"We hopefully yes, and I believe God willing, if we think this is for the nation. We, the government, are doing our best," he said.
President Prabowo Subianto announced an increase in the national minimum wage average by 6.5 percent for 2025, based on the results of decisions through limited meetings with related parties, Friday afternoon.
"We made the decision to increase the national minimum wage average by 2025 by 6.5 percent," the President said in his announcement at the President's office.
The decision was taken after a limited meeting that discussed the minimum wage as an important social safety network for workers, especially those who worked less than 12 months.
As a follow-up to this decision, the Ministry of Manpower is working on the issuance of a regulation by the minister of manpower that regulates it, no later than it will be published next week.
