Simultaneous Pilkada Takes Place Safely, Commission III Of The DPR Praises The Role Of The Police
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR praised the role of the Indonesian Police in securing the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections until the voting day on 27 November yesterday. This praise was given after Commission III conducted an evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of the Pilkada which took place safely and peacefully.
"In general, we need to convey that the National Police really maximally conveys, carries out its duties, principals, and functions related to the security of the Pilkada. Starting from preparation, it means helping the distribution of logistics, preparing TPS, then also implementing voting, maintaining order related to voting, until the completion of quick calculations in each region, or what is called a quick count," said Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Habiburokhman, Friday, November 29.
Habiburokhman assessed that the role of the National Police in the Regional Head Election this time was very maximal.
"And we must express our extraordinary appreciation to the National Police Chief, Listyo Sigit, the Regional Police Chiefs, the Police Chiefs, the Sector Police Chiefs, the Babinkamtibmas," he said.
However, Habiburokhman said, Commission III of the DPR noted that there were several events that were quite prominent. First, the incident in Puncak Jaya, Central Papua, where there was a clash between supporters due to mutual claims of victory.
"We continue to monitor the incident, and we consider the Police response to be appropriate, namely to carry out security with appropriate and measured actions," he said.

"This morning we received input about the mutual claim of victory between the two contestants where the tiered recapitulation process is currently underway. And the public really asked us to speak up so that the security forces, especially the Police there, guaranteed that fraud would not occur in the tiered recapitulation process," he concluded.
