Jarnas Anti TIP Affirms The Importance Of Revision Of The Law And Strengthening The TIP Directorate
JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Network (Jarnas) Anti-State Trafficking Crime (TPPO), Rahayu Saraswati D highlighted Batam, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Surabaya, North Sulawesi and Bali which have high number of TIP cases.
Rahayu proposed a revision of the TIP Law, especially regarding child protection under 18 years old which must be treated as victims, without taking into account consent.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the Directorate of TP PPA-PPO at the National Police Headquarters, both in terms of the capacity of the apparatus and professionalism.
"This directorate should not be underestimated. The handling apparatus must have a special heart and expertise," he said in a discussion of the 16 Day Anti-Violence Campaign Against Women (16HAKTP), Tuesday, November 26.
The Daily Chair of Jarnas Anti-TIP, Father Chrisanctus Paschalis Satumus, who was also present at this discussion explained that Batam is the central city for the TIP syndicate as a transit for migrant workers abroad.
He revealed the existence of a mafia network that works systematically, even involving unscrupulous officers. "The modes vary, ranging from household chores to sexual exploitation," he said.

At the end of the discussion, Rahayu closed it by submitting plans for the launch of the 2024 Annual Notes in conjunction with the Commemoration of International Migrant Workers' Day in Batam on December 18.
