Garuda Ready To Lower Airline Ticket Prices At Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is ready to implement a 10 percent reduction in the price of economy class aircraft on domestic flights during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) periods.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan, said the decrease in ticket prices was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction to help the community in order to reduce the burden on ticket prices ahead of the long holiday period at the end of the year.

In addition, continued the Military Commander, this step is also to support the recovery of the economic sector, especially tourism and the creative economy.

"The national airline Garuda Indonesia ensures that it is ready to implement a policy of decreasing the price of domestic flight tickets for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year periods starting from 19 December 2024 to 03 January 2025," he said in an official statement, Thursday, November 28.

The Military Commander said that his party is also coordinating intensively with all stakeholders to discuss further instructions for implementing the policy to ensure the smooth implementation technically in the field.

"We understand the public's need for air transportation services at affordable prices, especially in the midst of preparations ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays," he said.

In accordance with the plan to reduce ticket prices that have been submitted by the Ministry of Transportation, continued the Military Commander, it is projected that the decrease in ticket prices will reach 10 percent where some come from supporting components for ticket prices.

These components include fuel surcharge, aircraft passenger services (PJP2U) and landing service services, placement, aircraft storage (PJP4U), and adjustment of avtur at a number of airports.

"The decrease in ticket prices has also taken into account carefully by paying attention to the projected growth of passengers on the year-end holidays. Thus, the implementation of this decrease in ticket prices, we are optimistic that the volume of passengers will grow positively, which will certainly have a direct impact on the performance of Garuda Indonesia's revenue," said the Military Commander.

The Military Commander also said that the plan to implement the policy of reducing aircraft ticket prices had previously been thoroughly studied by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, in this case the Airline Ticket Price Reduction Task Force (Satgas).

He also hopes that this decrease in ticket prices will be a concrete step that has a positive impact on steps to increase people's mobility, especially at the peak season at the end of the year.

"Garuda Indonesia welcomes the solidity established between all stakeholders to lower the ticket price of aircraft during the year-end holiday period. We will immediately implement this policy, after the issuance of all regulations that regulate the provisions for lowering ticket prices by relevant stakeholders," concluded the Military Commander.
