Vice President Gibran Reviewed The Victims Of The Kampung Melayu-Cawang Flood, Not Nyemplung But Distributing Basic Food
JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka reviewed the condition of flood-affected residents in Kampung Melayu and Cawang, East Jakarta (Jaktim), Thursday, November 28.
As is known, the increase in rainfall and water discharge of the Ciliwung river in the last few days has caused flooding with varying heights in several areas of Jakarta.
At the first point, the Vice President visited a residential area on Jalan Kebon Pala I, Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta. This area was flooded to a height of 2.5 meters due to the overflow of the Ciliwung river on Wednesday, November 27 night.
After walking along residential alleys, the Vice President arrived at the residents' evacuation sites, namely at SDN 01 Kebon Pala.
In addition to greeting residents, the Vice President also distributed food aid packages containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other basic necessities.
Not only that, to children, the Vice President also distributed milk, toys, and stationery packages.
After reviewing Kampung Melayu, Gibran then headed to Bidara Cina, Cawang, which was also flooded to a height of 1.5 meters or as high as the chest of an adult.
At this location, the Vice President walked through the flood-affected area, interacted directly with residents and distributed basic food assistance.

Previously, when visiting residents affected by tidal flooding in Muara Angke on Wednesday, November 20, the Vice President emphasized the importance of coordination between parties in handling floods due to high rainfall and tidal waves that often hit Jakarta.
Gibran appealed to water pumps to function optimally and ensure that river flow and sewer cleanliness are maintained.
The Vice President also emphasized that flood management steps must be designed with a long-term vision, including the importance of accelerating the development of flood control infrastructure.
