Launch Connectivity, Ministry Of Public Works Speeds Up Road 7 Airport Access Development

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) coordinate related to cooperation to facilitate inter-regional connectivity.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said that currently his party is building airport access roads in several areas. A total of four airport accesses have been completed, namely Syamsuddin Noor Airport in South Kalimantan, Singkawang Airport in West Kalimantan, Rendani Manokwari Airport in West Papua and Siboru Airport in West Papua.

"Actually, we have done some of it, but because it has entered the end of the year. Maybe the rest will be continued in 2025," said Dody as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Public Works, Thursday, November 28.

Dody said, there are still around 7 airports that need to be maximized for road access. However, he did not specify the airports.

As for 2020-2024, the Ministry of Public Works has built access to transportation nodes consisting of ports and airports along 104.7 kilometers (km). This access is spread across 10 provinces of Indonesia.

In addition to discussing airport access, meetings with the Minister of Transportation also discussed the readiness of connectivity infrastructure to welcome Christmas and New Year (Nataru) as well as the 2025 Eid homecoming flow, including efforts to overcome congestion points during long holidays.

According to Dody, there are several proposals from the Minister of Transportation related to Nataru's preparation and also future preparations for Eid 2025 transportation. He said, usually the obstacles are on the Cikampek toll road.

"Currently, the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) is being expanded. Then, the next obstacle is usually in Merak. Related to this, the Minister of Transportation also has special tips in overcoming congestion. So, of course we support it," he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi thanked the Ministry of Public Works for their joint support and commitment in facilitating connectivity between regions, especially at the momentum of Nataru and Eid every year.

"Thank you, Ministry of Public Works for your support, together we will prepare for the infrastructure. For Nataru 2025, the Ministry of Public Works and related BUJT will widen the lane. Meanwhile, during Eid, we will prepare buffer zones. The goal is the same, to facilitate traffic flow and connectivity," he concluded.
