Police Shoot Police Case, MPR Chair Asks Police To Evaluate Psychological Periodic Soldiers

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani is concerned about the recent shooting incident by the police. Muzani asked the National Police to resolve the shooting case against the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Solok Police and against Paskibra members in Semarang.

Including evaluating the soldiers regarding possession of firearms and their psychology.

"I think it's concerning, but I'm sure it can be resolved properly by a friend of the police," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 26.

Regarding the proposed tightening of the use of firearms by members of the police, Muzani said that the current firearm ownership procedure is quite strict, both apparatus and non-aparat apparatus.

"But people's names, sometimes they like mistakes, negligence, emotionalism, and people to get permission to use firearms, there are tests of all kinds, the procedure is passed. Because what is held concerns the safety of others," said Muzani.

"So actually I see that the procedure is quite fitting, it is quite correct," he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the public's proposal for the National Police to conduct a psychological evaluation of its soldiers who held weapons for a certain period of time, Muzani admitted that he agreed. According to him, there must be periodic evaluations related to this matter.

"Yes, maybe periodic evaluations within a certain period of time may be necessary, maybe. And that's when it's time, the Police know when that scaling is needed. Is it once a year or how long I don't understand," said the Secretary General of Gerindra.

"(Agreed, ed) Perhaps it is necessary because that person always changes his psychological attitude, I think that changes," he added.
