Coordinating Minister Yusril Formulated The Requirements For The Transfer Of Bali Nine Prisoners
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra said his party was formulating conditions from the Indonesian government for the transfer of five prisoners (prisoners) from foreign nationals (foreigners) who were narcotics smuggler from Australia who were members of Bali Nine to their home country.
Yusril Ihza Mahendra said this would first be communicated with the Australian government because it needed their approval.
"In an internal manner, the Indonesian government is very active in formulating this, both in the ranks of the Coordinating Ministry for Kumham Imipas, the Ministry of Law, as well as the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections," said Yusril as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 26.
The five foreigners are members of Bali Nine, namely Si Yi Chen, Michael Czugaj, Matthew Norman, Scott Rush, and Martin Stephens.
Yusril hopes that in the near future the governments of Indonesia and Australia will soon meet to formulate an agreement regarding the transfer of the five members of Bali Nine.
In addition, the meeting will also discuss the transfer of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Australia because Indonesia asks for the transfer of prisoners to be reciprocal.
Yusril emphasized that his party wants the process of transferring Bali Nine prisoners to be completed in December 2024, as stated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Prime Minister of Australia in Peru.
"The sooner it is finished, the better," he said.

Not only about the transfer of prisoners in Bali Nine, Yusril said that his party is also now actively completing requests for the transfer of other prisoners, namely Mary Jane Veloso to the Philippines, who is a death row convict in a narcotics smuggling case.
The Minister of Immigration and Corrections has held a coordination meeting with the Attorney General, especially regarding MAY Jane, who if executed, her executor is the prosecutor.
" Mary Jane's current status is that the prosecutor's deposit at the Yogyakarta Penitentiary, in contrast to the Bali Nine, whose execution has been carried out and now the task of fostering her as a prisoner is with the Directorate General of Corrections," Yusril explained.
It is known that the agreement to transfer Mary Jane was also carried out by the governments of Indonesia and the Philippines with several conditions, namely the Philippines must recognize the decision of the Indonesian court because Indonesia has the authority to try Filipino citizens who commit crimes in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Another requirement, namely security guarantees to return prisoners to the Philippines is the responsibility of the country.
The Philippine government must also agree if there is a request for the transfer of Indonesian prisoners who have been sentenced in the country to return to the country.
Bali Nine is the nickname for nine Australian inmates who were arrested in Bali, Indonesia for being involved in a drug syndicate case in 2005.
The nine convicts were proven to have smuggled 8.2 kilograms of heroin from Indonesia into Australia and were sentenced to different sentences.
The nine convicts are Andrew Chan, Myuran Sukumarian, Si Yi Chen, Michael Czugaj, Reane Lawrance, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen, Matthew Norman, Scott Rush, and Martin Stephens.
