Bawaslu Investigate Alleged Bribery In The 2024 Bogor City Pilkada
BOGOR The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Bogor City, West Java, is investigating seven alleged violations in the implementation of the 2024 Bogor City Pilkada. One of the cases in the spotlight is the alleged bribery involving the wife of the candidate mayor (cawalkot) and a commissioner of the Bogor City KPU.
The chairman of the Bogor City Bawaslu, Herdiyatna, explained that during the campaign period there were six cases of violations that had been handled previously.
Four cases were terminated because they did not fulfill the element of violation, while two other cases involving the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) had been handed over to the State Civil Service Agency (BKN).
"We have processed cases of violations by ASN, but because they do not meet the element of election crime, the case is terminated and submitted to BKN," said Herdi.
At the end of the campaign period, Bawaslu received information from the media regarding the alleged giving of money from Fitri Rayendra, wife of the Bogor City Guard number 5, Reandi Rayendra, to the Bogor City KPU Commissioner, Dede Juhendi. This information was followed up and plenaryed by Bawaslu on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
"We have determined this alleged bribery as a finding. Based on the rules, each finding must be plenary within 1x24 hours. We have carried out that process last night," explained Herdi.
Herdi stated that his party would immediately summon all relevant parties, including Fitri Rayendra, Dede Juhendi, and the initial information provider. This step is taken to gather evidence, validate data, and clarify alleged violations.
"We are currently investigating evidence of alleged violations. If the evidence is valid, we will clarify the relevant parties to determine whether this includes election or general crimes," he said.
Herdi emphasized that Bawaslu had three days to conduct an initial study of these findings. "We must not linger in processing the findings. Everything must be fast and according to procedures," he added.
This case highlights the importance of strict supervision in the Pilkada, especially to prevent practices that injure election integrity. Bawaslu is committed to maintaining a clean and fair democratic process in the city of Bogor.
