Pop Mart Will Take Strict Action On Restaurants That Make Food Form Labu
The trend of Labubu puppets has made many parties create something similar to Labubu, one of which is food. Restaurants sell foods such as cakes in the form of Labubu, which makes Pop Mart furious.
Pop Mart is a company that focuses on selling toys, owners of itellectuak property (IP) from the characters of Labubu and The Monsters. Pop Mart realized that many restaurants use the Labubu character for their food menu, one of which is in Singapore.
"We are aware that there are many food sellers launching products with Labubu characters in Singapore," said Pop Mart International representative Kevin Zhang, quoted by the Strait Times, on Monday, November 25, 2024.
Kevin Zhang said that none of these restaurants had a license to make Labubu foods. With that, Pop Mart will take firm action against the restaurant, in order to protect the rights of artists and companies.
"Pop Mart will soon take the necessary action to stop the use of Labubu and The Monsters without permission, in order to protect the interests of artists as well as Pop Mart," he added.

According to Kevin, if Pop Mart does not immediately take firm action regarding this matter, it is feared that it could have a detrimental impact in the future.
"For example, if there is a restaurant chain that is willing to pay for the license to use the character, then a food seller who does not have a license from Pop Mart appears. Of course it will harm brands or brands that officially cooperate with Pop Mart," he explained.
As is known, in Singapore there are indeed several restaurants that make food in the form of a Labubu character. Such as the Peony Jade restaurant which makes a Bakpao formed by Labubu, to the Ji Xiang cake shop that makes cakes in the form of Labubu.
