Supporting Ormas Anies Supports RIDO, Suswono: Jakarta People Are Known To Be Smart

JAKARTA - Candidate for Deputy Governor number 1 Suswono is grateful that the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono or RIDO pair received support from former volunteer Anies Baswedan.

Suswono is optimistic that outside support from community organizations including Anies supporters will strengthen Indonesia's victory in one round of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"If Allah predicts that we will lead Jakarta, we will use this mandate as optimally as possible for the benefit of the ummah," said Suswono in a statement, Friday, November 22.

"The people of Jakarta are known as smart voters. We believe that with this synergy and belief, God willing, a one-round victory will come true," he continued.

For information, the support of the mass organization supporting Anies was conveyed during a prayer together at the Sunda Kelapa Mosque, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 21, evening.

According to Suswono, with strong inclusiveness and commitment, the RIDO pair will be able to realize a new Jakarta as a developed city. "A city that is peaceful and brings happiness to all its citizens," he said.

Previously, the head of Anies Baswedan Volunteers in the 2017 Pilkada, Sutrisno Muslimin, stated that the joint prayer was a symbol of affirmation that more and more former Anies supporters were now switching to support the RIDO pair.

"We recognize that the increasingly real differences in ideology and vision of development have prompted us to abandon support for Mas Anies. Currently, we believe that the Ridwan Kamil and Suswono pairs are able to bring Jakarta to a better, peaceful and advanced direction," said Sutrisno.

"We believe that Jakarta under their leadership will become a city that is not only modern but also glorifys its citizens," he added.

One of the main driving motors of Anies Baswedan's 2017 campaign also revealed that his support was born from disappointment with the political and ideological direction taken by Anies.

"We are volunteers who support Anies with great hopes of change. However, over time, we see that the RIDO pair is more reflecting the values of justice, sustainability, and partiality that are truly in line with the current needs of Jakarta," he said.
