Google Adds Lowest Lighting Control Feature On Android 16
JAKARTA Google has released the first preview of Android 16 and one of its newest features has been revealed. This operating system (OS) will add Even Dimmer's ability to maintain eye health.
Android actually already offers the Extra Dim feature to set the best lighting in dim spaces for a long time. However, this feature cannot be accessed instantly because it is in the accessibility option or requires a Fast Settings tiling.
Google realizes that access to the Extra Dim can make it difficult for users so they make repairs on Android 16. Based on Android Authority findings, this feature will change its name to Even Dimmer.
In addition to changing its name, Google also places its features in a new place. On Android 16, the Even Dimmer feature is seen in the form of a new button in the view settings. That way, access to the feature can be much easier.

Even Dimmer works like Extra Dim mode. When activated, the device will display additional attenuation layers to reduce screen brightness levels. The lighting is even much lower than the phone's default settings.
To make it easier for users, this feature can also be controlled directly through brightness settings. If previously users had to navigate brightness through accessibility settings, this would no longer need to be done in the Android 16 version.
The Even Dimmer function will be directly added to the brightness slider and users can slide the slider to the far left to reach the lowest brightness level. So far, the Even Dimmer feature is only available on Pixel 9.
