11 People Arrested In The Case Of The Collapse Of A Serbian Train Station Roof That Killed Dozens Of People

JAKARTA - The High Prosecutor's Office in the city of Novi Sad, Serbia, said it arrested 11 people related to the collapse of the train station roof earlier this month which killed 15 people.

The newly renovated station roof in the northern city collapsed on November 1, killing 14 people and injuring three others. On Sunday, one of the injured died, bringing the total death toll to 15 people.

As reported by Reuters on Thursday, November 21, the prosecutor's office said the 11 people were arrested for committing criminal acts against public safety after interrogation of a number of residents and expert analysis of the incident.

The statement only mentions the initials of the arrested person.

The disaster sparked a wave of protests in Serbia, and protesters blamed the accident for corruption and nepotism among the ruling coalition.
