Infinity Denies Leaving China Amid Lesunya Sale

JAKARTA - A number of Japanese automotive manufacturers who do business in China are under pressure due to the onslaught of local brands that provide more affordable products. Even manufacturers such as Infiniti, are rumored to be withdrawing from the market.

But in the midst of the rumors, the luxury manufacturer owned by Nissan denied this rumor even though its sales were sluggish.

Launching from CarNewsChina, Tuesday, November 19, Infiniti officials said this report was untrue and was a mere baseless speculation in the timeline. The manufacturer said that this could have a negative and serious impact on their image.

Previously, the rumors were reinforced by the absence of a brand at this year's Guangzhou Auto Show and reportedly halted production in China.

In addition, sales from Infiniti in the bamboo curtain country were weak with only 255 units as of last October with a cumulative 10 months of 1,919 units. Of course this shows sales worse than last year which reached annual sales of up to 5,824 units.

With this decline, the premium brand must carry out an exodus dealer that was carried out earlier this year.

Furthermore, this report shows a large-scale restructuring of personnel. China's former head of Infiniti has been transferred to the Venucia division along with Dongfeng-Nissan and other employees are considering internal transfers or resignations.

Infiniti has also not launched a new car to switch to a new energy vehicle consisting of pure hybrid or electric (EV), thus offering no more options for consumers in China.

In addition, one of the models, QX60 is also being highlighted because customers complain about several aspects, ranging from abnormal noise to the failure of gyrboks that occurred in a short time after making purchases.
