Vice President Gibran Asks Bawaslu Not To Be Selective In Supervision Of The 2024 Pilkada
JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka reminded the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to carry out the supervisory function of the 2024 Pilkada fairly and firmly.
In his remarks while leading the 2024 Pilkada alert rally at Monas Square, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 20, Vice President Gibran requested that Bawaslu not make selective decisions in his supervisory duties.
"I hope Bawaslu can be firm, fair, and not selective in carrying out the supervisory function," said Vice President Gibran.
He emphasized the importance of synergy between Bawaslu and other institutions, such as the General Election Commission (KPU), TNI, Polri, Attorney General's Office, the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP), as well as all components of society, to ensure a clean and democratic election.
The vice president also appealed that the calm period of the regional elections which took place on November 24-26, 2024 and the vote on November 27 could be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. He reminded us to continue to oversee the Pilkada process, starting from voting, voting, to determining the results.
If there is a dispute over the results of the Pilkada vote, Vice President Gibran asks that the lawsuit process be carefully guarded, so that all parties can file a lawsuit in accordance with applicable regulations and get their rights. "We want all Pilkada processes to run fairly and transparently," he added.
In closing, Vice President Gibran emphasized the importance of maintaining neutrality during the Pilkada to ensure that this democratic party runs smoothly.

It is known that the 2024 Pilkada will be attended by 37 provinces, 415 regencies, and 93 cities. A total of 1,557 pairs of candidates, consisting of 1,169 pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent as well as 285 pairs of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor competed in the 2024 Pilkada.
