Bawaslu Asks Government To Increase Panwascam Honorary Money 100 Percent
Chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja asked the government to raise the honor of the sub-district election supervisory committee (Panwascam) by around 50 to 100 percent.
He admitted that he had submitted the request to the deputies at the State Palace because it had been five years since Panwascam had not experienced an increase in honor money.
"We only ask the government, if not 100 percent, the honor is increased, at least 50 percent," said Bagja at the 2024 Simultaneous Elections Peace Alert Call in Jakarta, quoted by ANATRA Wednesday, November 20.
Bagja reasoned that Indonesia's annual inflation rate, which reached five percent, should also be followed by an increase in Panwascam's honor.
Even so, he is still waiting for the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) to lower his request.
"We are waiting for the KPU to lower its demand, the demand is twenty times that, how many times that," he said.
In addition, according to him, the increase in Panwascam's honor money also had an impact on the increase in the salaries of the Bawaslu ranks.
"Because of my friends' happiness, Bawaslu happiness too, because we automatically went up," he concluded.
Based on Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, Panwascam or Panwaslu Subdistricts is a committee formed by the Regency/City Bawaslu to oversee the implementation of elections in sub-districts or other names.
