Police Name 3 KNPB Members Suspected Of Beating Police During Demonstration In Abepura
Jayapura - Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor Mackbon said his party had named three members of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) as suspects in beating members of the National Police. While the other three people are still being sought.
"The three KNPB members who have been detained, namely BA (20), DD (17) and AY (25). KNPB is one of the organizations that wants to separate from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said the Chief of Police, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 19.
The beatings caused the two members of the National Police to suffer injuries, namely Iptu Taufik and Brigpol Fransiskus Yohanes Muda.
The case began when members of the KNPB held a demonstration by prioritizing rejection of the transmigration program in Abepura, Jayapura City, on Friday (15/11).

The demonstrators carrying the KNPB flag were disbanded because they tried to walk to the Papua Provincial House of Representatives building.
During the disbandment, a group of KNPB members beat the police officers who were on duty at the time.
Suspects BA and DD are subject to Article 170 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, while AY is suspected of Article 2 paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law number 12 of 1951.
