Rain Continues In Bukit Menoreh Kulon Progo, BPBD Reminds Residents To Beware Of Landslides

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) appealed to the public at four "canatewons" in the Bukit Menoreh area in Kulon Progo to be aware of the potential for landslides following high-intensity rains in the last few days.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Kulon Progo Regency BPBD, Budi Prastawa, said that the four whenewons that have the potential for landslides are Kapanewon Kokap, Girimulyo, Kalibawang, and Samigaluh.

"The four areas become prone to landslides every year during the rainy season, especially during heavy rains with high intensity and lasting a long time. If there are signs, we urge the public to immediately evacuate to safer places," Budi said in Kulon Progo, Tuesday, November 19, confiscated by Antara.

He also appealed to the public to always care about potential disasters when it rains heavily, namely knowing the character of the surrounding environment, cleaning waterways in the surrounding environment, and cutting tree branches which are considered to cause disasters.

Budi said the landslides on a heavy scale occurred in Kalurahan Hargotirto and Hargowilis in Padukuhan Deksi and Sidowayah in Kapanewon Kokap. Then the landslide that blocked the access roads of the provinces of Dekso-Samigaluh and Girimulyo damaged the irrigation network.

"The rapid reaction team has already handled it. The Kulon Progo Public Works and Housing Agency (DPUPKP) has also deployed heavy equipment to clean landslide materials," he said.
