Timah Corruption Suspect Hendry Lie Returns To Indonesia Secretly
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) revealed that the suspect in the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area. in 2015 '2022, Hendry Lie, returned to Indonesia from Singapore secretly.
"Pulang secara subdiscriminately dengan niat menghindari petugas," kata Direktur Penyidikan Jaksa Agung Muda Bidang Tindak Pidana Khusus (Jampidsus) Kejagung Abdul Qohar dalam konferensi pers di Gedung Kejaksaan Agung, Jakarta, Selasa 19 November dini hari.
Abdul Qohar explained that Hendry had been in Singapore since March 25, 2024 after his first examination as a witness in the case.
"However, the person concerned did not return again on the grounds that he was undergoing treatment in Singapore, at Mount Elizabeth Hospital," he said.
Hendry was then named a suspect in the case on April 15, 2024.
In the end, Hendry decided to go home secretly to Indonesia and was arrested by investigators from the Directorate of Investigation at Jampidsus with intelligence at the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel) and the Attorney General's Attach in Singapore at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Monday (18/11) at 22.30 WIB.
Hendry's reason for returning to Indonesia was also revealed because the passport in question was withdrawn by immigration and could not be extended.
"To return to Indonesia, the passport in question ends on November 27, 2024, so it does not allow an extension of the validity period because investigators have sent a letter to the Singapore Embassy through immigration to withdraw the passport concerned," he said.
Despite secretly returning home, Qohar emphasized that investigators had been monitoring Hendry's whereabouts since April 2024 until finally arresting the founder of the Sriwijaya Air airline at the airport.
The role of suspect Hendry in this case as the beneficial owner of PT Tinindo Inter Nusa or PT TIN. Hendry consciously and deliberately played an active role in the rental of tin melting processing equipment between PT Timah Tbk. and PT TIN.
The tin seeds melted from the cooperation between the two companies came from CV BPR and CV SFS which were deliberately formed to receive tin seeds sourced from illegal tin mining.
As a result of Hendry's actions and dozens of other suspects who are currently in the trial process, the state was harmed by around Rp. 300 trillion.

Hendry was also suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
In the next stage, Hendry was detained for the next 20 days at the Salemba Rutan, South Jakarta District Attorney's Branch.
