The Government Ensures That Jakarta Is Still The Capital City

JAKARTA - Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas ensured that Jakarta is still the state capital.

This condition will not change before President Prabowo Subianto signs the Presidential Decree (Kepres) regarding the relocation of the capital city.

"Yes, until today, Jakarta is still the capital city of Indonesia. Because Article 70 of the DKJ Law states that this law has been in effect since it was signed by the president's decision regarding the relocation of the capital city," Supratman said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 18.

According to Supratman, the President will sign the presidential decree if the infrastructure in IKN has been well built.

The infrastructure development process can also take several years. One of the infrastructures that must be accelerated is in the fields of executive, legislative and judicial governance.

This must be one of the priorities so that the wheels of government in IKN can run well.

"So that later it is appropriate to become a city that can all executive, legislative and judicial powers work there," said Supratman.

After the infrastructure is built and the presidential decree has been signed, then the status of the capital city will move from Jakarta to the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

On the other hand, his party is also still trying to accelerate the revision of the DKJ Bill with the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR. The revision aims to replace several points of articles in the DKJ Law such as changing the nomenclature of the name of DKI to DKI.

According to Supratman, the replacement must be carried out so that DKJ has a strong legal basis as a province. The discussion is also sought to be completed before the 2024 Pilkada ends on 27 November.
