Disagree With The Retribution Program, Rano Karno Presses The Function Of The Waste Bank
JAKARTA - Candidate for deputy governor of DKI Jakarta number 3 Rano Karno stated that he did not agree with the waste retribution program where people who produce waste must pay for the waste management costs themselves.
According to the man who is familiarly called Bang Doel, the waste retribution program can be replaced by sorting waste starting from households and the availability of waste banks.
Actually, this waste retribution is not needed if the waste management is correct and efficient. The waste problem can be resolved by up to 35 percent if it can be sorted from the household," said Rano in the 3rd debate of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada on Sunday, November 17.
He also believes that this method is much more efficient than waste levies. Because according to him, this method has also been done in developed countries, where citizens are actually given money if they sort waste well through the plastic waste deposit system.
Because according to Rano, waste can be processed into fuel, energy, or valuable products such as briquettes, crafts, or manufacturing materials.

Modern waste processing can (turn waste) into fuel, then waste can become energy, become a waste hydropower plant," he said.
Therefore, Rano is committed to presenting a modern waste management system, where they will present a training for residents in managing waste into something useful.
"Incidentally living in a housing complex, we have a training center for making compost and we have a waste bank. So maybe my advice, later we will create an ecosystem like this in every housing," he said.
