Listyo Sigit Promises To Resign If Involved In Online Gambling, PPI: Public Doesn't Need Promises But Evidence

JAKARTA Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters (PPI), Adi Prayitno emphasized that the public does not need promises and bombastic statements from state officials regarding the eradication of online gambling, including the statement of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who is ready to resign if he is involved.

"The public no longer needs bombastic talk and statement, heroic talk, words that are full of fanfare. But the most important thing is how to prove it, catch it, investigate it thoroughly and especially to the main actor," he said, Sunday, November 17, 2024.

According to him, online gambling eradication should be executed immediately by state officials. Especially with the infrastructure owned by the state, it is not too difficult to reveal online gambling practices.

"Of course the public is wondering, how come the online gambling period is complicated and difficult? But if things like terrorism, radicalism, it's easy to track down who the actor is, who is the character, who is the mastermind," he added.

Adi assessed that the data and digital traces of problems related to online gambling were actually much easier to trace, so law enforcement officials could reveal it quickly. "There is no reason not to reveal this completely. It's just a matter of proving it," he said.

Previously, a member of Commission III of the DPR, Benny K Harman, also asked the National Police Chief to thoroughly investigate the online gambling case that dragged unscrupulous Kemkomdigi officials. He urged the National Police not to stop at the Ministry of Communication and Trade but to reveal the main actors in online gambling practices.

According to Benny, online gambling issues not only concern illegal practices in society, but also test the integrity of police institutions and related ministries.
