Bogor City Bawaslu Reports 10 Social Media Accounts For Hate Spreaders, Who Is The Mastermind?

BOGOR (Regional Election Supervisory Agency) Bogor City reported 10 social media accounts that spread hate speech against candidate pairs for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Bogor in the 2024 Pilkada series.

Bogor City Bawaslu member, Ahmad Fatoni, said that the report was the first step to follow up on negative content on social media. "We have coordinated with the Indonesian Bawaslu and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) to block these anonymous accounts," Fatoni said in Bogor City on Saturday, November 16.

According to the results of surveillance and identification, the accounts on Instagram and TikTok were found to contain content that invites the public to hate one of the candidate pairs (paslon) in the 2024 Pilkada. Fatoni explained that the content has the potential to negatively affect people's choices.

"This is an invitation to influence the public not to choose certain candidate pairs, which clearly contradicts the principles of a healthy campaign," he said.

Fatoni added that to block these accounts, the Indonesian Bawaslu will coordinate directly with the Komdigi. This process is in accordance with the mechanisms and procedures stipulated in the Bawaslu Decree.

On this occasion, Fatoni also appealed to the entire community, including the candidate pair campaign team, to make the campaign period a place to compete for constructive ideas, ideas, and explanations of vision and mission.

"There is no place for hate speech, hoaxes, negative campaigns, black campaigns, or SARA issues. Let's create quality campaigns for the better future of Bogor City," he said.

This step is part of Bawaslu's efforts to ensure that the 2024 Pilkada runs honestly, fairly, and free from practices that injure democracy.
