Joe Biden Administration Expected To End Military Support For Ukraine

JAKARTA - The soon-to-end United States government of Joe Biden must end military support for Ukraine in the few days remaining, before Donald Trump, who won the presidential election last week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at Radio Kossuth's morning program.

President Orban noted that in the United States, debates over future policies related to conflicts in Ukraine are still ongoing.

"I'm not in a position to make an assessment, but their constitutional system looks a bit strange to me: president was elected in November, but he will take office only on January 20," he told TASS November 15.

"What happens between these two dates usually doesn't really concern anyone. However, the current US government is included in a party that likes to go to war, while the winner of the [Donald Trump] election is among the peaceful parties. That's where certain questions arise," he explained.

Trump, who is paired with JD Vance of the Republican Party, managed to outperform the pair Kamala Harris and the Democratic Team Walz.

Citing NBC News, Trump-Vance is expected to get 312 electoral votes, while Harris has 226 votes. To win the US Presidential Election, candidates promoted must win at least 270 electoral votes out of around 538 electoral votes up for grabs.

PM Orban believes it will be fair and appropriate for President Biden's upcoming government to reduce military support for Ukraine, as power changes hands.

"They should no longer trigger hostility or show commitment to military operations. On the other hand, they should give the new president a pro-peace opportunity to carry out his program as calmly as possible," explained PM Orban.

Previously, PM Orban had repeatedly expressed hope that a peaceful settlement in Ukraine would be achieved, along with Trump's victory in the US Presidential Election.
