Iran Ready To Cooperate With International Agency To Answer Questions Regarding Its Nuclear Program

JAKARTA - President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran's search for nuclear technology was in line with the international Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s legal framework and license.

President Pezeshkian said this when receiving IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi in Tehran, Thursday.

He explained that Iran had consistently stated that in accordance with the fatwa of the country's leaders, they did not intend to develop nuclear weapons, adding Tehran had shown its good intentions on various occasions.

"Iran is very ready to cooperate with international agencies to answer any questions regarding its peaceful nuclear program," he explained, launching IRNA November 15.

The President underlined that reports from the IAEA show Iran has fulfilled all its commitments based on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA 2015), which is also known as Iran's nuclear deal with world powers, but the United States (under President Donald Trump) unilaterally withdrew in 2018.

Meanwhile, Grossi praised President Pezeshkian's peaceful approach and expressed his gratitude to Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their cooperation with the IAEA, saying he was very confident that President Pezeshkian's term would start a new era of positive relations between Iran and the agency he leads.

"The strong cooperation between Iran and the IAEA will thwart plans against Iran's nuclear program," Grossi explained.

"The meeting with President Pezeshkian was an important part of my visit to Iran, the opportunity to engage at the highest level with the new government, listen to his views and explain my approach and efforts to achieve progress on one of the most challenging issues on the international agenda," he tweeted on social media X.
