Due To Online Gambling Addiction, Unemployment Desperately Sells Friends' Motorcycles For Slot Deposits

JAKARTA - A man with the initials KZ was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jatinegara Police for stealing a motorbike belonging to his friend on Jalan Kebon Nanas Selatan, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

Suspect KZ was desperate to steal his friend's motorbike because he was addicted to online gambling (Judol) type slots.

KZ is addicted to online gambling because he has won Rp. 5 million so that he continues to be motivated to play again. He has been addicted to online gambling for 2 months.

However, because he did not have money because he was unemployed, KZ was desperate to steal his friend's motorbike with the initials TA.

In the action, KZ was also assisted by the suspect DK who was tasked with duplicating the key to the motorbike belonging to the victim TA.

"The two perpetrators and the victim are friends. KZ has often played slots, he is already addicted to gambling," said Jatinegara Police Chief Kompol Chitya Intania to reporters, Friday, November 15.

Furthermore, Kompol Chitya said that the theft began when the suspect with the initials DK borrowed the victim's motorbike with the initials TA, who was his friend.

After borrowing, the suspect DK then returned the victim's motorbike. After being returned, it turned out that suspect DK had falsified the victim's motorbike key in the Tebet area, South Jakarta.

After taking the motorbike borrowed by the perpetrator, the victim TA then returned to his brother's house. TA parked the motorbike on the side of the road and locked the handlebar.

After the victim wanted to eat, it turned out that his motorbike was not in its original place. After checking CCTV around the scene, there was a video depicting the suspect KZ taking the motorbike.

"The motive of the suspect DK is to hurt the victim, that's why he doubled the key. DK ordered KZ to take the victim's motorbike," he said.

Meanwhile, the confiscated evidence was in the form of a STNK and a leasing certificate.

"The motorbike is still under investigation because the motorcycle suspect has sold it to an unknown person online for 3 million," he said.

From the statement of the suspect KZ, the proceeds from selling motorbikes to playing online gambling. Meanwhile, suspect DK did not receive the money from selling motorbikes from KZ because the money had run out for online gambling.

"The two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code. They were threatened with 6 years in prison," he concluded.
