Coordinating Minister Yusril Orders Ministry Of Immipas To Investigate Salemba Rutan

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correction Yusril Ihza Mahendra will coordinate with the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) to take firm steps and investigate the escape of seven Salemba Class I Detention Center (Rutan) prisoners.

"As the Coordinating Minister, I will immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections to take one firm step, conduct an investigation of the hope of this case," said Yusril as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 14.

Yusril said the escape of seven drug detainees in the Salemba Class I Detention Center (Rutan), Central Jakarta on Tuesday (12/11), became a common concern.

The investigation to be carried out by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) aims to find out whether the incident occurred due to negligence or intentional.

"If it is negligence, it must be given a warning. If it is intentional, one action must be given in accordance with the regulations in the field of staffing," said Yusril.

A total of seven drug convicts escaped by breaking into their rooms at the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/11) in the early hours of the morning.

They are known to have escaped from detention at around 07.50 WIB. At that time, the Salemba Rutan was handing over the guard between the night guard team and those who would be on duty in the morning.

"The seven detainees and convicts of the drug case are suspected of escaping by breaking into the exterior of the room," said Head of the Salemba Class I Detention Center, Central Jakarta Agung Nurbani.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya along with other DPR members also carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Salemba Rutan on Thursday.

Willy said many closed circuit television (CCTV) were inactive in the incident of the seven detainees' escape.

The head of the Salemba Class I Rutan Agung Nurbani underwent an examination and is now inactive.

Commission XIII questioned the reason for the leave of the Head of the Salemba Detention Center which happened to coincide with the incident of the escape of prisoners.
