Uncle Birin Resigns, Ministry Of Home Affairs Appoints Roy Rizali As Acting Governor Of South Kalimantan

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) appointed the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of South Kalimantan Province Roy Rizali Anwar as the Daily Executive (Plh.) Governor replacing Sahbirin Noor or Uncle Birin.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya following up on Sahbirin Noor's resignation as Governor of South Kalimantan as of November 13, 2024.

"To fill the vacancy of government leaders after the resignation of Governor Sahbirin Noor last night the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a decision to appoint South Kalimantan Secretary Roy Rizali Anwar as the Daily Executive (plh.) of the Governor of South Kalimantan," said Bima Arya confirmed via text message in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 14.

Bima said that the appointment of Roy Rizali Anwar was due to the position of Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan Muhidin on duty for the benefit of the 2024 Pilkada campaign.

Muhidin will return to duty in government, he continued, starting November 24, 2024 after the campaign period ends.

"This means that he is currently temporarily unable and the Regional Secretary will carry out his government duties until he returns to duty," he said.

As previously reported, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has received Sahbirin Noor's resignation letter as Governor of South Kalimantan on November 13, 2024 after serving for 8 years.

In his letter, Sahbirin declared his resignation in order to maintain the conduciveness of the government in South Kalimantan. The resignation letter has been submitted to the President and Minister of Home Affairs.

Sahbirin also expressed his apologies and hoped that development in South Kalimantan would continue smoothly.
