Google Home Tests Gemini-Based 'AI Camera Search' Feature For Nest Cams Users

JAKARTA - Google Home is starting a trial of a new Gemini-based feature, namely AI Camera Search and Help Me Create. After being announced last August, this feature is now available to specific users, providing Nest Cams with the ability to "understand" what happens through a more detailed AI description.

The AI Camera Search' feature allows Nest Cams to create a clearer video description on Google Home, replacing general labels such as detection of activity' with a more specific description, for example dogs are digging in the garden'' or Someone leaves the package on the terrace. This makes it easier for users to search and review video recordings on the Activity tab.

This feature was first available to Nest Aware Plus users in English in the US who followed Google Home's Public Preview. Only Nest cameras have been set through the Google Home app since 2021 or after, as well as old cameras that have been migrated to this app, will support this feature.

Through the Public Preview page in the Google Home app for Android and iOS, there will be a live/matic button for the 'AI Experimental Feature' that starts rolling out this week. This button will be gray if the user does not have a Nest Aware Plus subscription or if the feature is not yet available.
