British Foreign Minister Condemns The Myanmar Embassy Lockdown, Please Allow Kyaw Zwar Minn To Remain In UK

JAKARTA - Britain has allowed ousted Myanmar Ambassador Kyaw Zwar Minn to remain in the U.K. until He decides on his future, the British Foreign Ministry said Friday, April 9.

The announcement was issued, after Kyaw Zwar Minn was locked out of the embassy and did not enter it on Wednesday 7 April. Along with his call to go home by Myanmar's military regime on April 9.

"We condemn the way Myanmar's military in London banned their ambassador from entering the embassy last night", the British Foreign Office said, according to Reuters on Friday, April 9.

We respect Kyaw Zwar Minn's courage in defending the people of Myanmar. In light of the bullying behavior towards Mr. Minn, we are working to ensure he can live safely in the UNITED Kingdom while he decides on his long-term future", the statement continued.

British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab via his Twitter account condemned the actions of Myanmar's military regime, which took over the Myanmar Embassy in London.

"We condemned the intimidation of Myanmar's military regime in London yesterday, and I pay tribute to Kyaw Zwar Minn for his bravery. Britain continues to call for an end to the terrible coup and violence, and the swift restoration of democracy", he wrote.

It was reported earlier that Myanmar's Ambassador to the UK was locked by military representatives and was unable to enter the Myanmar Embassy in London. He was locked out of his own embassy on Wednesday by his deputy, Chit Win at the behest of Myanmar's military who seized power in February.

'We're confident the UK Government won't support those working for the military junta. And we would also like to urge the UK Government to send them back", kyaw spokesman Zwar Minn said on Thursday.

In a letter to the British Foreign Ministry from the Myanmar Embassy, as seen by Reuters, those in control of the embassy said Deputy Ambassador Chit Win had taken over as power on April 7. Kyaw Zwar Minn was recalled (to Myanmar) on March 9.
