President Biden Praises 75 Years Of Partnership With Indonesia, President Prabowo Says US Is A Good Friend
JAKARTA - President Joe Biden and President Prabowo Subianto praised each other, when the two met in the Oval Room, White House, Washington on Tuesday.
Citing the White House website, President Biden is proud of the partnership between the United States and Indonesia which has continued to strengthen and has been going on for 75 years.
He said that this meeting with President Prabowo would be used to discuss a number of things, such as advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific with ASEAN as its center.
"As the two largest democracies in the world, I think our country has a special responsibility in this vision," President Biden said in a statement before the bilateral meeting, quoted from the White House website November 13.
Next, President Biden said they would discuss the issue of fighting the climate crisis, as well as building a safe and resilient supply chain.
"Indonesia is an important player in the clean energy transition," said President Biden.
"And finally, by deepening our comprehensive strategic partnership which includes deepening our security cooperation," President Biden continued.
"We will also discuss global challenges, including in Gaza and the South China Sea," he said.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, saying he would work hard to improve relations between the two countries.
