Bluesky Gets 700K New Users In A Week

JAKARTA Bluesky revealed that its platform will get more than 700 thousand new users within one week. With this drastic increase, Bluesky now has 14.5 million users.

COO Bluesky, Rose Wang, told The Verge that the majority of users who joined in the past week came from the US. It is not known how this drastic increase could occur, but it seems influenced by other platforms.

Many users in the US have complained about performance problems from Threads over the past few months. They criticized Threads' way of moderating content due to the large number of posts or accounts being restricted because they were considered to be uploading illicit content.

In fact, these accounts only reiterate an issue while sharing article content which is considered the root of the problem for Threads. In addition to its problematic moderation system, Threads is also being filled with an engagement verse.

Post engagement verse is usually made for the purpose of attracting a lot of interactions in the wrong way. For example, a user states that the elderly do not deserve to wear open clothes while sharing Illustration photos made with Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The impact is in accordance with what users want, attracting many Threads users to comment on their posts even though they are full of insults. This is done in order to get monetization from Threads.

Another factor may be influenced by the results of the US presidential election. Recently, Donald Trump got the most votes and Elon Musk was one of the most supporters to voice his support.

Despite the slow increase in features on this platform when compared to other microblogging platforms, Bluesky is trying to attract more users. When Threads or X experiences problems, Bluesky will appear and try to attract its users.
