Sidan Dam Progress In Bali Reaches 96.59 Percent, Speeded Up By Village At The End Of November 2024

JAKARTA - The construction of the Sidan Dam has reached 96.59 percent. It is hoped that this dam can be completed by the end of November 2024. Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) hopes that this dam will be able to meet the water needs for tourism and Balinese residents.

"Actually, it's just a matter of finishing a few more percent to be completed 100 percent. This means that it can be inaugurated and used immediately for the maximum benefit of the community, especially supporting the tourism industry," AHY said in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, November 12.

It is known that this dam is located on the border of Badung, Gianyar and Bali Regencies. This dam will later flow into raw water needs in Denpasar City, Badung Regency, Gianyar Regency and Tabanan Regency (Sarbagita).

Meanwhile, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said this dam was able to provide raw water of 1,750 liters per second to serve 1,3 million people and flood control covering an 108 hectares (ha) with a reduction effectiveness of 3.2 percent or 5.15 cubic meters per second.

In addition, the Sidan Dam also has the potential for hydroelectric energy (PLTMh) with a capacity of 0.65 Megawatts. This dam has the potential for Floating PLTS which produces 8.65 Megawatts.

"Hopefully, in the future the flood will be greatly reduced as a result of the construction of the dam," he said.

On the same occasion, Director of Dams and Lakes of the Directorate General of Water Resources Adenan Rasyid added, the government will create a long storage at Embung Unda to supply Gianyar with 20 liters per second and Denpasar with 80 liters per second.

Long storage was also built by Tukad Melangit to supply Gianyar 100 liters per second and Klungkung 50 liters per second. Then, the Balinese Dam was designed with a plan to supply raw water for Tabanan 70 liters per second and Denpasar 200 liters per second. The total water supply to Sarbagita is 970 liters per second.

The Ministry of Public Works has disbursed funds of Rp. 829 billion to build the Sidan Dam project in 2019, with a total height of 68 meters (m).
