North Sumatra Police Arrest Owner 272 Kilograms Of Cannabis From Aceh

The Special Team of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) arrested the alleged owner of 272 kilograms of marijuana-type narcotics originating from Aceh Province.

"The perpetrators who were arrested were men with the initials S alias I (37) and S alias DA (30) residents of Southeast Aceh Regency, Aceh," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol Hadi Wahyudi, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.

Hadi said the arrests began with personnel from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate receiving information that a vehicle was carrying marijuana-type drugs from Aceh to Medan City.

Then, officers conducted an investigation and conducted investigations from various information materials. Based on the information, the characteristics of the vehicle carrying marijuana evidence were identified.

After that, officers thwarted the circulation of marijuana-type narcotics on Thamrin Street, Pangkalan Brandan, Babalan District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra on Saturday (9/11).

"At that time, the car the perpetrator was driving was stopped by officers, then the perpetrator resisted and the team shot the car tires. After that, the personnel immediately secured the perpetrators S alias I and S alias DA," said Hadi.

He said the team conducted an inspection and found 11 burlaps containing 272 kilograms of marijuana, which were found in the middle seat and the rear trunk of the car.

"This marijuana is planned to be distributed outside Sumatra Island. The team has identified the perpetrators who are suspected of possessing marijuana and continue to explore other networks," said Hadi.

The North Sumatra Regional Police together with other stakeholders continue to intensify drug eradication in their jurisdictions, both from air, sea, and land routes.

He appealed to the public to be active in providing information in their environmental areas. If there are suspicious people, immediately report them to the nearest police station.
